Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world had expressed condolences for the fighter in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
