Barcelona to Host First Fixture at Renovated Camp Nou this Saturday
The club confirmed they will play at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league 30 months following their departure to allow renovations to start.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held an open training session at the Camp Nou on 7 November. Officials stated they are seeking authorization by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht on 9 December at the stadium. Their recent games have been held at Estadio OlĂmpic LluĂs Companys.
