Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the initial names in the frame to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolves.
Pereira was dismissed on Sunday following the squad's 10-match without a victory beginning to the top-flight season.
And both candidates - each of whom have historic links to the team - are part of the options to be considered by the club leadership.
Edwards is presently at another club, which would pose a possible hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.
However the former Luton Town manager - who played over a century of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.
The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the club directors as they start the search of appointing a fresh manager.
O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a shock choice given he was released by the club in the previous winter.
The ex- West Ham player is out of work meaning Wolves would not need to provide any compensation.
