The Actress Expresses Speaking About Donald Trump Would ‘Worsen the Situation’ Dividing the Nation Apart

Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she no longer feels fitting to voice opinions regarding the Trump government, worried it could intensify unhelpful debate and deepen rifts across the country.

‘I Question the Usefulness’, Says Jennifer Lawrence

In a recent interview, the Oscar winner commented, “Back in Trump’s initial term, I thought I was running around in a panicked state. But as we’ve learned, election after election, Hollywood stars do not make a difference at all on voter decisions.”

The actor went on, “Why continue? I’m just sharing my opinion on an issue that’s going to heighten conflict dividing the nation apart.”

Changing Allegiances

Jennifer Lawrence has admitted freely about backing Republican and Democratic presidential nominees over the years. Brought up by a right-leaning family in Kentucky, she cast her ballot for John McCain in the 2008 election before joining the Democrats and revealing she recognized during Obama’s administration that supporting the GOP was undermining her personal freedoms as a woman.

Previous Comments

In 2015, she stated that Trump winning the presidency might signal “the end of the world” and endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 election. In the latest campaign, she gave her endorsement to Vice President Harris, “as I feel she’s a strong contender and I know that she will take all necessary steps to defend women’s health rights.”

Industry Position

Jennifer Lawrence was joined by most of Hollywood in her disapproval of the former president as a presidential contender, but the limited influence stars have over the public choices was underscored by Trump’s victory.

“This upcoming term appears changed,” said Lawrence of his leadership. “As he made his plans clear. We knew what he did for the previous administration. He was explicit. And voters made that decision.”

Current Projects

Jennifer Lawrence is currently promoting Die, My Love, director Lynne Ramsay’s drama in which she portrays a new mother who faces challenges with her mental health in a remote area. Speaking at a interview session for the project in the film festival, the star addressed Israel’s bombings in Gaza: “I feel fear. It’s devastating. What’s occurring is equivalent to a humanitarian crisis and it’s horrible.”

Additional Thoughts

Lawrence added by saying that she was disappointed by “the lack of civility in the conversations of the political landscape right now and how that is going to be commonplace to the younger generation now. It’s going to be normal to them that elected officials deceive.”

Lawrence aimed to shift outrage about the situation to leaders rather than entertainers. “Concentrate on the people in charge,” she said, which was interpreted as a reference to the then-recent pledge endorsed by numerous Hollywood professionals to refuse engagement with specific industry bodies.

Individual Insights

Lawrence, who earned critical acclaim aged 22 for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook, is generating Oscar buzz for her performance in the new film. Even though Lynne Ramsay has disputed the story being interpreted as one of postpartum depression and psychological distress, Lawrence revealed that she identified with aspects of her character’s journey after the delivery of her youngest child, soon after shooting ended.

“It was fear for my son,” she said, “imagining every negative outcome, and then questioning everything that I was trying. I was receiving counseling, but I began using a drug called Zurzuvae and I took it for two weeks and it made a difference.”

Film Challenges

Lawrence also mentioned of the liberating necessity of completing nude scenes in the film while she was in pregnancy and couldn’t work out.

“There’s a freedom,” she commented, about having to set aside self-consciousness. “Truly, I do have moments where I’m like, What technically are the differences between my work and that profession? But it doesn’t keep me up at night.”
